The sirens started at about 10:30 last night and lasted until close to 11:00. Ugh. The storm blew through in about 20 minutes and luckily I was able to fall back to sleep in short order after that.
Had a good weekend. I read three books...yes, three. On my Nook. I'm totally addicted to this device.
I will do short reviews on those titles tomorrow.
For today, I need a large cup of joe and the morning paper. Pronto.

Huh? I'm lost.
Tornado sirens? Are there such things? It's the only way I can make sense of what you're saying. (But I didn't think it was tornado season.)

Yes. Tornado Sirens. It isn't tornado season, but we had a massive storm move through...actually caused some major destruction in Alabama.
I later read about Alabama, but I had no clue you were in a tornado area. I always vaguely pictured you as living somewhere near the Great Lakes, possibly a suburb of Chicago or something.....
Utah, of course, has no tornado sirens, so I've never heard one before. We had a near-tornado in '73 that did a great deal of damage (I recall our neighbor's roof being ripped completely off and deposited in a pile in a vacant lot across the street.), and we had an actual tornado in '99 (which I watched from half-way up a mountain for a great view of it). That's about it.
I grew up in northern Indiana close to Lake Michigan, but now live in the Mid South as the residents here call it. It is also known as the buckle of the Bible belt. We get some nasty weather off the gulf during hurricane season and nasty weather the rest of the year from the other side of the Mississippi River. Sirens are a way of life.
