voting

The newspaper ran an article yesterday bemoaning the low early voting turnout. In our ville, the turnout out is less than 4,000 so far. Ugh. There are multiple races, four amendments, and the wine in grocery store issue on the ballot.

We have a population of over 44,000 people. Early voting goes on for almost two weeks. They have voting on Saturdays.

It could not be more convenient unless you could vote online from the comfort of your own living room.

Saw recently a comment about making election day a national holiday. I don't think even that would work, at least not in our area.

Pretty darn sad.

Both the girls voted when they were home for that brief period on the Friday before I left for Texas. Off they went to the polls. Of course, they are in the demographic that votes the least in our town. Granted, many of them are away at school and obtaining an absentee ballot isn't high on their priority list, but it is doable.

Guess I have always believed that unless you take the time to go pull the lever, touch the screen, bubble in the punchcard, you don't deserve the right to comment, opine, bitch, complain, or make a remark of any kind after the election is certified.

So vote, or zip it. Yep, sounds about right.
