Today is my birthday! I've already had a call from my Mom and Dad. I also heard from my best friend. Facebook is lighting up with best wishes from folks around the country, family and friends alike.
Birthdays are fun. I've never understood why some folks dread them or don't want to share just how many they have celebrated. It is way better than the alternative, right?
And there is basketball on today. What could be better? Birthday treats and basketball games. Perfect!
Hubby is going to cook dinner for us tonight. Steak and all the fixings. I went out to lunch yesterday with my crew from work. One of them works a half day today, so we celebrated early. But, I bet we have coffee and donuts this morning. I heard them scheming yesterday!
So, it is all good. Turning 48 isn't too bad.
Random thoughts on my writing journey, what I'm reading, my family, and my community. All before that first cup of coffee.

happy birthday
Here's to another first. Today is my oldest daughter's birthday and for the first time ever she isn't home to celebrate with us.
We did celebrate a few weeks back when she was home, and that was nice, but I know I'm going to go through the day knowing that something is missing.
Just another milestone, experience, fact of life, new reality, that we all get to enjoy together!
So, Happy Birthday to my very first Baby Girl!
XOXOXOXO

it's the weekend
My youngest celebrates his birthday tomorrow. Wow. The oldest, unbeknown to her, is having a birthday party on Sunday. Wow. I have a lot of cooking to do today and tomorrow plus a lot of stealthy type activities to accomplish as well.
Doesn't look like I will have a lot of time to read, but it does look like we are going to have a lot of fun.
Enjoy your weekend, I know I will!

labour of love
More years ago than I want to admit, on this date, I gave birth to my first child. As she looked me eye to eye this morning in the kitchen, I realized, not for the first time, what an amazing kid she is. So amazing that she even wanted me to bring her lunch and then stay and eat with her and her friends. One of them proclaimed me the coolest most awesome mom ever...and that was without a Lofthouse cookie bribe.
The kid and I are off in the freezing weather for the first soccer game of the season tonight. So, to my fierce, bright, lovely girl. Happy Birthday, dolly. Love, Mom
